Runaway Princess #3 Stampede Passage

To continue practicing dynamic scene painting in the Runaway Princess series, I designed a composition in which the princess rides a bison, fleeing from a distant volcanic eruption. The bison was adapted from a previous artwork, with the two background bison repositioned to run in the same direction, enhancing the depth and perspective of the scene. Dust clouds were added around the hooves to emphasize the forceful stomping motion of the central bison. To harmonize the color palette, I incorporated subtle purple tones into the bison’s fur, bridging the contrast between the princess’s red dress and the blue horns and smoke. The princess’s headpiece was simplified to evoke the aesthetics of Native American design. However, the shapes of the clouds and smoke could have been rendered with blurred edges since excessive detail in that area would distract from the focal figure.
