SQUID SLIDE × Margaret Qualley

It has been quite some time since my friend shared the playground photoshoot I had required, but I determined to complete the project. The vibrant structures of the children’s playground evoked memories of the bold and striking visual design of Netflix’s Squid Game. Inspired by its candy-colored aesthetic, I enhanced the illustration with brighter hues and added vivid pink to the rubber flooring to heighten the surreal atmosphere. I also incorporated a portrait of Margaret Qualley seated on the slide, symbolizing the unsettling notion of a game designed for adults. The blue sky and white clouds were rendered in a deliberately childlike style. at my son’s request, I included three miniature guardians, subtly blending whimsy and tension, to make the work more interesting and intriguing.
