BEAUTY AND THE BEAST × Emma Watson

This piece comes from an activity organized by our small group of artistic enthusiasts wherein an image is selected by vote, and each participant creates an illustration in their own style. A jigsaw puzzle featuring a black cat silhouetted against stained glass was chosen. I reinterpreted it through the lens of Beauty and the Beast, reasoning that the Beast could plausibly embody feline characteristics. Using a photograph of Emma Waston holding a book as reference, I adapted her attire into an azure silk gown and styled her hair in an elegant, minimalist updo to align with the theme. The interaction between her and a lion was rendered to convey intimacy, with vibrant roses added to the background where the black cat originally resided. The most labor-intensive part was replicating the fanciful stained-glass patterns, as I painstakingly ensured that the ornamental details in each panel were hand-drawn with consistency.
