DUNE × Zendaya

Dune masterfully blends stunning visual effects with profound dramatic depth within a meticulously crafted world. Inspired by its vast desert landscapes, I sought to reinterpret its grandeur through a unique perspective, merging the iconic scene of the protagonist facing the colossal sandworm with Zendaya’s ethereal elegance, transcending the constraints of the masterpiece. To achieve this vision, I reimagined her pleated gown in its fully expanded form, transforming it into a projection screen that reflects the film’s most striking spectacle. Capturing the fusion of illumination and shadow as cascades of sand fall from the sandworm’s rise proved to be challenging, especially in maintaining the integrity of the gown’s intricate folds. Balancing the fluid motion of the sand dust with the structural delicacy of the dress required particular attention, yet it allowed me to fuse the film’s raw, monumental scale with a sense of refined beauty.
