THE HUNGER GAMES × Jennifer Lawrence
My husband and son flew to reunite with me in Sep. 2022, and I took a year-long break from art. Overwhelmed by guilty, I decided to reignite my artistic journey by challenging myself to depict fire using ink sketching. The Hunger Games immediately came to mind as a fitting subject to fulfill this ambition. Despite my lack of experience in rendering flames, the result was surprisingly satisfactory, prompting my art instructor to humorously remark that I must have been practicing “影稽古”—a Japanese term for training through mental visualization—during my absence. The portrait of Jennifer Lawrence in my work deviated from her appearance in the series. Nevertheless, I felt this modern interpretation still captured the essence of a young, defiant rebellion leader, resonating with the indomitable spirit of her character.
